Ingredients

  1. Viaggi Vanilla Baking Powder, 1 bag
  2. cherry jam, 350 g
  3. flour 00, 400 g
  4. sugar, 200 g
  5. butter, 100 g
  6. egg, 1
  7. milk, as needed

Method

Pour the sifted flour together with the baking powder onto a work surface, forming a well. In the center, add the sugar, softened butter, and egg; then start mixing, gradually adding milk until you obtain a smooth and compact dough.
Take 2/3 of the dough and roll it out with a rolling pin to about 0.5 cm thickness. Use it to line a 30 cm baking tin that has been previously buttered and floured, ensuring the base and edges are well covered. Prick the base with a fork and spread half of the cherry jam over it.
With the remaining dough, make strips to form the classic pattern on top.
Bake in a static oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 40–50 minutes, until golden.
